Installation Instructions for Mercedes-Benz ML350 BlueTEC, GL350 BlueTEC AWD, GL450 & GL550
Part Numbers:

- Ratchet

- 13mm Socket

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Lower the Exhaust:
- Remove the (4) rubber exhaust isolators:
- (2) on the inside of the mufflers
- (2) on the outside of the mufflers.
- Note: On some models, remove the exhaust tips:
- Remove (2) screws securing each tip.
- Slide the tips towards the front of the vehicle to release.
- Remove the (4) rubber exhaust isolators:

Remove Rear Fascia Bracket:
- Remove the screws securing the rear fascia bracket.
- Tuck the bracket onto the reinforcement bumper beam.
- Note: Some models may have (2) individual brackets – temporarily remove these and reinstall after hitch installation.

Remove Rubber Isolator Brackets:
- Remove the (2) bolts on each rubber isolator bracket (located inside the mufflers).
- Return the bolts to the vehicle owner.

Install Nut Plates:
- Place the supplied nut plates over the bumper beam.
-
Raise the Hitch into Position:
- Pull down on the fascia to allow clearance.
- Slide the hitch into position.
- Note: Heat shields may need to be bent slightly for the hitch to fit.

Secure the Hitch:
- Clamp the hitch between the inside isolator brackets and underbody.
- Loosely install the supplied M8 bolts and 3/8" lock washers.
- Slide the hitch forward until it is near the weld seam (but not resting on it).

Insert Spacers:
- Insert CM-13102-S spacers above each hitch side plate.

Secure Hitch to Nut Plates:
- Install the supplied 1/2" x 5-1/2" hex bolts with 1/2" conical toothed washers.
- Install bolts in the following order:
- Front outside bolt
- Front inside bolt
- Rear outside bolt
- Rear inside bolt.
- Repeat for the other side.

Torque Fasteners:
- Torque all 1/2" hardware to 75 lb-ft.
- Torque all 8mm hardware to 23 lb-ft.

Reinstall Rear Fascia Bracket:
- Reattach the fascia bracket with the screws removed in Step 2.
- Note: Some models require the bracket to be installed behind the hitch mounting flange for clearance.

Trim Heat Shields:
- If the heat shields contact the hitch, trim them to allow 1/8" clearance.

Raise Exhaust Back into Position:
- Reattach the exhaust hangers to their original positions.
-
Reinstall Exhaust Tips (If Removed):
- Slide the exhaust tips back into place and secure them with the screws removed earlier.

- (4) M8 x 1.25 x 30 Hex Bolts
- (4) 3/8" Lock Washers
- (4) 1/2" x 5-1/2" Hex Bolts (Grade 5)
- (4) 1/2" Conical Toothed Washers
- (2) CM-13102-S Spacers
- (2) CM-13102-NP Nut Plate Weldments

- Periodically check this receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and structural components are sound.
- Warning: All non-trailer loads must be supported by auxiliary stabilizing straps.
- Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty.
