Installation Instructions for 2012-Present Honda CR-V SUV

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Remove the underbody panel
- Remove (10) fasteners to lower the underbody panel.
Step 2: Lower the exhaust
- Remove (2) rubber isolators from the exhaust hangers.
- Refer to the "Rubber Isolator Removal Diagram" for assistance.
Step 3: Trim the underbody panel
- Mark and trim the underbody panel per the provided "Underbody Panel Trim Diagram."
- Dimensions are approximate; confirm fit prior to trimming.
- Reattach the underbody panel using the fasteners removed in Step 1.
Step 4: Insert the U-bolt
- Insert the 7/16" U-bolt through the tow hook.
Step 5: Position and secure the hitch
- Raise the hitch into position and secure it using:
- 7/16" flange nuts on the U-bolt.
- M10 bolts with 7/16" conical toothed washers into the weldnuts in the frame rails.
Step 6: Torque all hardware
- Torque all 7/16" hardware to 25 ft-lbs.
- Torque all M10 hardware to 48 ft-lbs.
Step 7: Raise the exhaust back into position
- Reattach the exhaust by securing the rubber isolators.
Hardware List:
- (1) 7/16"-14 UNC x 1-1/2" U-Bolt
- (2) 7/16"-14 Serrated Flange Nuts
- (2) M10 x 1.25 x 30mm Hex Bolts
- (2) 7/16" Conical Toothed Washers

- Periodically inspect the hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and structural components are secure.
- Stabilizing straps (#18050) are required for all non-trailer (wheel-less) loads.

- Panel trim removal tool
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Prepare the Rear Cargo Area
- Open the vehicle tailgate.
- Remove all trunk floor coverings.

Remove the Rear Scuff Panel
- Remove the two push fasteners securing the rear scuff panel.
- Pull the scuff panel out from the bottom and then upward.
- Note: It may be necessary to push in the center of the push fasteners to release them.

Remove the Rear Trim Panel (Driver Side)
- Remove the rear cargo loop and two plastic fasteners securing the rear trim panel.
- Remove the two screws securing the seat release handle.

Access the Taillight Wiring Harness Connectors
- Pull back on the rear trim panel to locate the vehicle's taillight wiring harness connectors.
- If the harness is located further up in the trim panel, gently pull back on the upper trim panel to expose the connectors.
- Separate the connectors from the taillight housing, ensuring the locking tabs remain intact.

Connect the Custom Wiring Harness
- Insert the custom wiring harness end between the separated connectors.
- Ensure the connectors are fully inserted with the locking tabs secured.
- Note: It may be necessary to remove the finish panel behind the driver-side rear seat for better access to the connectors.

Ground the White Wire
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing screw with a nut in the vehicle frame.
- Alternatively, drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw.
- Ensure the grounding area is free of rust, dirt, and paint. Secure the white ground wire using the ring terminal and provided screw.
Warning: Check for miscellaneous items that may be hidden behind or under any surface before drilling to avoid damage or personal injury.

Mount the Converter Box
- Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle, near the taillight.
- Adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape.

Install the Fuse
- Insert the provided 10-amp fuse into the fuse holder and install the fuse holder cap.

Route the 4-Flat Connector
- When in use, route the 4-flat connector to the center of the vehicle.
- When not in use, roll it up and store it in a convenient location.
- Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties.

Insert the Low-Profile Mini Fuse
- Locate the vehicle’s fuse panel under the dashboard.
- Insert the 10-amp low-profile mini fuse into the fuse panel in position 10.

Reinstall Components
- Reinstall all items removed during the installation process.
- Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
