Installation Instructions for Chevrolet Equinox / GMC Terrain (2018-Present)

Tools Required:
- Ratchet
- 15mm and 3/4" Sockets

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Remove the rear fascia screws.
- Locate and remove the two Torx screws securing the rear fascia using a T15 Torx bit.
- Set the screws aside for reinstallation.
Step 2: Lower the exhaust system.
- Use a 15mm socket to remove the four bolts (two per side) securing the rear exhaust hanger brackets.
- Support the exhaust system before proceeding to prevent damage.
Step 3: Enlarge the access holes.
- Remove the exhaust rubber isolator in front of the muffler to lower the exhaust further.
- Slightly enlarge the access holes on both the driver and passenger side frame rails using a rotary tool to fit the hardware.
Step 4: Fishwire the hardware.
- Using the provided fishwire tools:
- Guide one 1/2" carriage bolt and one square-hole spacer through the enlarged access hole to each of the three mounting holes on both frame rails.
- Leave the fishwires attached for alignment during hitch installation.
Step 5: Position and secure the hitch.
- Raise the hitch into position, aligning it with the mounted hardware.
- Secure the hitch using six 1/2" hex flange nuts.
- Remove the fishwires carefully to avoid dislodging the bolts.
Step 6: Torque the hardware.
- Tighten all 1/2" hardware to 110 ft-lbs using a torque wrench.
Step 7: Reinstall components.
- Raise the exhaust back into position and reattach the exhaust hanger brackets.
- Reinstall the Torx screws removed in Step 1.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Locate the Vehicle Wiring Connector:
- Identify the vehicle wiring connector along the rear bumper. The connector will resemble the one on the custom wiring connector.
- Separate the vehicle connector from the weather seal connector, taking care not to damage the locking tabs.

Connect the Custom Wiring Connector:
- Insert the custom wiring connector into the vehicle connector.
- Ensure the connectors are fully inserted and the locking tabs are engaged.

Route the 4-Flat Wiring:
- When in use, route the 4-flat wiring out from the vehicle.
- When not in use, roll up the wiring and store it in a convenient location.
- Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties.

Install the Dust Cover:
- Attach the provided 4-flat dust cover to prevent corrosion.

Access the Fuse Panel:
- Open the vehicle tailgate.
- Locate and remove the fuse access panel cover on the driver side trim.

Install the Relays:
- On the fuse panel, locate positions K2 and K3 as indicated on the fuse cover.
- Install the provided relays in the identified positions.
