Installation Instructions for Toyota Camry & Avalon Sedans (2018-Present)

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Lower Exhaust
- Remove (2) rubber isolators per muffler and (1) rubber isolator forward of the muffler to lower the exhaust.
- For Japan-built vehicles: Remove the tie-down bracket from the passenger-side frame rail.
- For USA-built vehicles: Remove the rear exhaust hanger from the driver-side frame rail.
- For dual-exhaust vehicles: Remove the rear exhaust hanger from both frame rails.
- Note: Support the exhaust to prevent damage during this step.
Step 2: Trim and Remove Panels
- Remove the heat shields and trim them using the Heat Shield Trim Diagram as a reference. Reinstall the trimmed heat shields.
- Remove the plastic underbody panel and trim it according to the Panel Trim Diagram. Save the panel and fasteners for reinstallation.
Step 3: Enlarge Access Holes
- Enlarge the access holes in both frame rails using a die grinder.
- Use a reverse fishwire technique to guide a 1/2" carriage bolt and CM-SP10 spacer through the enlarged access hole on each side.
Step 4: Position Hitch and Secure Hardware
- Raise the hitch into position, aligning it with the frame rail and existing weld nuts.
- Secure the hitch using the provided hardware:
- Torque M12 hardware to 79 ft-lbs.
- Torque M8 hardware to 23 ft-lbs.
- Torque 1/2” hardware to 110 ft-lbs.
- Reinstall any removed exhaust hangers and the plastic underbody panel from Step 2.
- Note: For hybrid vehicles, relocation of the backup alarm may be required.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Disconnect the Battery:
- Locate the vehicle's battery using the owner’s manual.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal and secure it away during the installation process.

Prepare the Trunk:
- Open the vehicle’s trunk and remove all trunk floor coverings.
- Use the panel trim removal tool to release four push fasteners securing the scuff panel, then remove the panel.

Access the Taillight Wiring:
- Starting on the driver’s side, locate the taillight wiring connectors near the trunk wall liner.
- Separate the connectors from the taillight housing, taking care not to damage the locking tabs.

Connect the Custom Wiring Harness:
- Insert the custom wiring connector with the yellow wire between the separated connectors on the driver’s side.
- Run the green wire along the back of the trunk, below the skid plate, to the passenger’s side.

- When in use, route the 4-flat connector to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk.
