Installation Instructions for Tesla Model Y

- T-25 Torx Bit
- Flathead Screwdriver
- Panel Trim Removal Tool
- Socket, 8mm
- Socket, 10mm
- Socket, 15mm

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Remove Rearmost Underbody Panel
- Use a 10mm socket and T-25 Torx bit to remove eleven screws.
- Use a flathead screwdriver to remove three plastic push fasteners along the outer edges and four push fasteners along the lower edge of the wheel well liner.
Step 2: Loosen Wheel Well Trim
- Use a plastic trim pry tool to remove two clips from the lower end of the wheel well trim and four clips along the side. Repeat for both sides.
Step 3: Loosen Wheel Well Liners
- Remove the plastic fastener in the middle of each wheel well liner by hand.
Step 4: Remove Bolts Behind Wheel Well Liners
- Use a 10mm socket to remove one bolt from each side behind the wheel well liners.
Step 5: Remove Carpet and Trunk Panels
- Open the rear hatch and remove the carpet panel.
- Carefully pry between the trunk panel and rubber trim to access the taillight wiring and fasteners.
- Remove two nuts with a 10mm socket and unclip the taillight wiring for each taillight.
Step 6: Remove Bumper Cover
- Remove one bolt under each taillight opening attaching the bumper cover.
- Starting from the wheel well, unclip the edge of the bumper cover and disconnect any sensor wiring behind the passenger side.
- Place the bumper cover in a safe location.
Step 7: Loosen Sensor Bar
- Temporarily remove the four bolts securing the sensor bar above the aluminum bumper using a 10mm socket.
- Set the sensor bar in the vehicle hatch opening.
Step 8: Remove Aluminum Bumper Beam
- Use a 15mm socket to remove six flange nuts securing the aluminum bumper beam.
- Return the bumper beam to the vehicle owner.
Step 9: Install Hitch
- Raise the hitch into position and loosely secure it using the factory nuts removed in Step 8.
Step 10: Torque Hitch Fasteners
- Torque all fasteners to 42 ft-lbs.
Step 11: Reassemble Vehicle
- Reassemble the vehicle in reverse order of disassembly, ensuring all wiring is connected and functioning properly.
Weight Carrying Capacity:
- Gross Trailer Weight (GTW): 3,500 lbs.
- Tongue Weight (TW): 525 lbs.
Safety Notes:
- Safety glasses should be worn at all times during installation.
- Periodically inspect the hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and components are secure.
