Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Remove the Bumper Fascia Screws
- Use a T30 Torx bit to remove two screws attaching the bumper fascia to the body mounts.
- Save the screws for reinstallation later.
Step 2: Lower the Exhaust
- Use a 13mm socket to remove one bolt from each of the two rearmost exhaust hanger brackets.
- Support the exhaust before removing the bolts to prevent damage.
- (Optional) Temporarily remove the exhaust by loosening the nut at the bolted connection in the middle of the vehicle using a 15mm socket.
Step 3: Remove and Trim the Heat Shield
- Use an 11mm socket to remove three sheet metal nuts holding the heat shield.
- Remove the heat shield and trim the exhaust attachment tabs from it.
- Reinstall the center of the heat shield onto the vehicle.
Step 4: Enlarge Frame Holes and Fishwire Hardware
- Remove six plastic hole covers if present.
- Use a die grinder to enlarge the rearward-most holes in the bottom of the frame to allow the supplied carriage bolts and spacers to pass through.
- Fishwire six 1/2" carriage bolts and CM-SP10 spacers into the mounting positions as shown in the diagram.
Step 5: Trim the Bumper Cover
- Use tape, a marker, and a measuring tape to mark a 3 3/8" side-to-side and 2 5/8" lengthwise cutout in the center of the vehicle.
- Trim the marked area using tin snips or aviation shears. Verify the hitch location before trimming.
Step 6: Modify the Exhaust Brackets
- Use pliers to bend the two small locator tabs flat on each exhaust bracket, or remove them entirely.
Step 7: Mount the Hitch
- Thread fishwires into the hitch mounting holes and raise the hitch into position, placing the main body on the rearward side of the bumper fascia body mounts.
- Pull downward on the rear bumper cover approximately 5" to position the hitch.
- Remove the fishwires and install six 1/2" hex flange nuts.
Step 8: Torque the Fasteners
- Torque all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft.
- Torque all M14 fasteners to 126 lb-ft.
Step 9: Reinstall Components
- Reinstall or raise the exhaust back into position and secure with the bolts removed in Step 2.
- Reinstall the rear bumper cover screws removed in Step 1.

Safety Notes:
- Wear safety glasses at all times during installation.
- Periodically check the hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and structural components are sound.
Warnings:
- Do not exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
- All non-trailer loads must be supported by stabilizing straps to prevent damage and voiding the warranty.
- Hitch may interfere with the lift gate kick sensor.
