Wiring Access Location:

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Lower Exhaust:
- Detach the rubber exhaust hangers from the exhaust hanger brackets to lower the exhaust.
- On models with dual exhaust, perform this step on both sides of the vehicle.

Remove Forward Bolt:
- Remove the forwardmost M12 bolt attaching the bumper bracket to the vehicle frame (one per side) and discard.
-
Detach Wiring Harness (if present):
- Carefully pull the wiring harness from the driver’s side frame rail if present. It will be relocated after hitch installation.

Install Carriage Bolts and Blocks:
- Use the provided pull wire to fish the 1/2" carriage bolts and blocks through the access slot in the frame rail and down through the square hole on both sides of the vehicle.
- Refer to Figure 2 for proper pull wire technique.

Position Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position, ensuring not to push the bolts back into the frame.
- Place a flat washer between the hitch side bracket and the frame at the attachment point (both sides).
- Loosely install conical washers and nuts to hold the hitch in place.

Install Additional Bolts:
- Loosely install conical washers and M12 bolts into existing weldnuts in the frame. These replace the bolts removed in Step 2.

Secure Remaining Fasteners:
- Use the pull wire to fish the additional 1/2" carriage bolts and blocks through the frame rail access hole and into the holes on the side of the frame rail (two per side).
- Install lock washers and nuts (two per side) as shown in Figure 1.

Torque Fasteners:
- Tighten all 1/2"-13 GR5 fasteners to 75 lb-ft (102 N·m).
- Tighten all M12 CL10.9 fasteners to 92 lb-ft (125 N·m).

Reinstall Exhaust:
- Raise the exhaust back into position and reattach the hangers.
-
Raise Spare Tire (if applicable):
- If the spare tire was lowered, return it to its original position.

Relocate Wiring Harness:
- Relocate the wiring harness as shown in Figure 3.

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Trailer Wiring Harness

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove the Taillight Assemblies:
- Open the tailgate.
- Remove the two 10mm hex head bolts securing the taillight assemblies on both sides.
- Carefully pry the housings away from the vehicle, avoiding damage to the alignment tabs.

Expose the Grommet and Wiring:
- Locate the vehicle wiring and grommet on the driver’s side.
- Use a utility knife to slit the grommet from the hole where the wiring passes through to the edge.
- Remove any tape or tabs securing the grommet to the wires.

Connect the T-Connector:
- Find the 2-pin housing on the driver’s side.
- Plug the T-Connector end into the vehicle’s harness.
- Route the remaining T-Connector wiring through the grommet hole.

Install the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Slide the red locking tab on the vehicle connectors to the unlocked position.
- Disconnect the wiring harness from the taillight socket.
- Plug the T-Connector with the yellow wire between the taillight socket and vehicle harness.

Route the Green Wire and 4-Flat Harness:
- Route the T-Connector with the green wire and the 4-flat connector:
- Down through the bumper opening between the vehicle body and bumper.
- Run the green wire across to the passenger side.
- Carefully route it up through the passenger-side taillight opening.
- Repeat the process to connect the green wire T-Connector to the passenger-side harness.
- Route the T-Connector with the green wire and the 4-flat connector:

Optional Interior Routing:
- To route wiring inside the vehicle:
- Use a trim panel tool to pry off the threshold plate.
- Remove clips on the driver and passenger sides to access trim panels.
- Partially remove the lower interior trim panels.
- Route the wiring along the threshold plate and up through the passenger-side trim panel.
- Follow steps 3-5 to complete the connections.
- To route wiring inside the vehicle:

Seat the Grommet:
- Push all vehicle wiring back through the grommet hole.
- Reseat the grommet securely in the hole.
- Leave only the connector plugging into the taillight outside the grommet.

Secure the Black Box:
- Clean a flat area near the driver’s side taillight using a mixture of rubbing alcohol and water.
- Mount the black box module using the provided double-sided tape.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Replace any trim panels or air baffles removed during the installation.
- Reinstall the taillight assemblies.
- Position the wiring harness securely between the taillight housing and the vehicle body.
