Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Remove Fascia:
- Drill out (3) rivets inside each wheel well and (4) rivets inside the trunk opening using a 5/32" drill bit.
- Tip: A 5/32" Allen bit may be helpful to remove the rubber trunk stopper for access to rivets near brake lights.
- Remove (1) screw from the top side of each wheel well using a 7 mm socket.
- Remove (4) push pins under the trunk opening at the top of the fascia using a flat head screwdriver.
- Gently remove the fascia.
2. Lower Exhaust:
- Use exhaust removal pliers to detach the (2) exhaust hangers on each side of the vehicle.
- Note: Support the exhaust system before detaching hangers. Spray lubricant may ease removal.
3. Remove Bumper Beam:
- Use a 13 mm socket to remove (3) nuts securing the bumper beam on each side.
- Detach all wiring from the bumper beam and return it to the vehicle owner.
4. Install Hitch:
- Position the hitch into the frame rails.
- Attach a carriage bolt to the pull wire, feed the pull wire through the block and frame rail, and pull the bolt through the attachment holes.
- Ensure spacer blocks are properly aligned and do not overlap. Repeat for (3) fastener assemblies per side.
5. Tighten Fasteners:
- Torque all 1/2"-13 GR5 fasteners to 75 lb-ft (102 N·m).
6. Attach Wiring Harness (if equipped with reverse sensors):
- Use the provided cable ties to secure the wiring harness to the hitch cross tube.
7. Trim Fascia:
- Trim the fascia as shown in Figure 2 of the installation instructions.
8. Reinstall Exhaust and Fascia:
- Raise the exhaust back into position and secure the hangers.
- Reinstall the fascia by reversing the steps outlined in Step 1.

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter for Dodge Journey

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Taillight Assemblies:
- Open the tailgate and remove the vehicle's taillight assemblies by unscrewing the two clips holding them in place.
- Carefully pry the housing away from the vehicle, being cautious not to break the alignment tabs.
- Repeat this process for the passenger side.

Disconnect the Wiring Harness:
- On both sides of the vehicle, locate the taillight wiring harness connectors and separate them.
- Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.

Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Insert the T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the vehicle’s wiring connectors on the driver’s side.
- Lock the connectors securely into place.

Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Route the T-Connector harness containing the green wire and 4-flat connector down the opening behind the taillight.
- Run the 4-flat harness underneath the vehicle to the center.
- Route the green wire to the passenger side and through the opening behind the passenger-side taillight.

Install the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Repeat step 3 on the passenger side using the T-Connector with the green wire.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the connectors on the driver’s side.
- Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.

- Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury.

Connect the Power Wire:
- Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
- Attach the provided yellow fuse holder to the positive (+) battery cable.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the yellow butt connector.

Route the Black Wire:
- Route the black wire from the engine compartment to the rear of the vehicle, avoiding hot pipes, heat shields, or areas where it could be pinched or damaged.
- Connect the black wire to the red power wire on the T-Connector’s black box using the yellow butt connector.

Reconnect the Battery:
- Reconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
- Insert the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.

Mount the Black Box:
- Mount the T-Connector’s black box on the driver’s side using the provided double-sided tape.
- Secure the remaining harness with cable ties to prevent damage or rattling.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Reinstall the taillight housing assemblies and ensure all wiring is positioned correctly.

Mount the 4-Flat Connector:
- Mount the 4-flat connector in an accessible location using a bracket or electrical box (not included).
