Installation Instructions for Chrysler 200

Specifications:

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Covers and Bolts:
- Use an 8mm wrench to remove the bolts and plastic covers from the underside of the vehicle on both sides.

Remove Frame Rail Plugs:
- Remove the square rubber plugs from the underside of both frame rails.
-
Insert Carriage Bolts:
- Using the square access hole and supplied bolt leader, insert the 7/16" carriage bolts and spacer blocks into the frame rails as shown in Figure 1.

Install Driver-Side Bracket:
- Raise the driver-side bracket into place and attach with 7/16" conical washers and nuts. Finger tighten.

Position Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position and secure it using 7/16" conical washers and nuts. Finger tighten.

Install Remaining Fasteners:
- For the driver-side bracket and hitch, install the 3/8" bolts (bolt heads facing toward the tailpipe) along with flat washers and lock nuts through the holes.

Tighten All Fasteners:
- Use a torque wrench to tighten fasteners to the following specifications:
- 7/16”-14 GR5 fasteners: 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N*M)
- 3/8”-16 GR5 fasteners: 30 Lb.-Ft. (41 N*M)
- Use a torque wrench to tighten fasteners to the following specifications:

Reinstall Components:
- Reinstall the square plug removed from the frame rail.
- Reinstall the plastic covers. On single exhaust models, trim the plastic cover on the passenger side before reinstalling (refer to Figure 3).
Hardware List:
- (4) Carriage Bolts: 7/16”-14 x 1.75” GR5
- (4) Spacer Blocks: 1.00” x 3.00” x 0.250”
- (4) Conical Washers: 7/16”
- (4) Hex Nuts: 7/16”-14
- (3) Bolts: 3/8”-16 x 1.50” GR5
- (6) Flat Washers: 5/16”
- (3) Lock Nuts: 3/8”-16
- (4) Bolt Leaders: 7/16”
Safety Notes:
- Regularly inspect all fasteners and the hitch ball to ensure they are securely tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Always observe safety precautions and wear eye protection when working beneath the vehicle.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
