Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Remove Rear Fascia:
- License Plate Area: Remove the license plate and use a T15 Torx driver to remove the screws behind it.
- Wheel Wells: Use a T15 Torx driver to remove screws from each wheel well. Remove one additional bolt located behind the wheel well liner using a 7mm socket.
- Bottom Fascia: Use a 7mm socket to remove screws securing the bottom of the fascia.
- Detach Fascia: Use plastic trim tools to carefully pry and remove the fascia. Disconnect any wiring harnesses attached to the fascia.
2. Remove Bumper Beam:
- Detach Fasteners: Use a 15mm socket with a 6” extension to remove (4) M10 flange nuts securing the bumper beam.
- Remove Beam: Carefully slide the bumper beam off and set it aside.
3. Install Hitch:
- Position Hitch: Raise the hitch into place, aligning its holes with the studs on the vehicle’s rear end panel.
- Reattach Beam: Place the bumper beam over the hitch, sandwiching it in place.
- Loosely Install Fasteners: Reuse the original flange nuts to loosely attach the hitch and bumper beam.
4. Tighten Fasteners:
- Torque to Specification: Use a torque wrench to tighten all M10 fasteners to 53 lb-ft (72 N·m).
5. Trim Fascia (if required):
- Mark and Trim: Use a utility knife to cut a notch in the lower center of the fascia as specified in the included diagram. Verify clearance before reinstalling.
6. Reinstall Components:
- Reverse the steps to reinstall the fascia, license plate, and any disconnected wiring harnesses.
Safety Notes:
- Regularly inspect all fasteners to ensure the hitch and ball mount are securely attached.
- If the hitch is removed, plug any holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water or exhaust fume entry.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Always wear safety glasses and observe safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
