Installation Instructions for T-One® Connector for Toyota Corolla Cross

Tools Required:

• Trim Panel Remover
• 10mm Socket & Ratchet or 10mm Wrench
• Drill (3/32” Drill Bit)
• Wire Crimpers
• Wire Cutters
• Philips Head Screwdriver
• Test Probe

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Open the Hatch:

   • Locate and remove trim panels covering the taillight mounting screws.
   • Using a 10mm socket, remove the mounting screws on both driver’s and passenger’s taillights, being careful not to break the trim panel mounting tabs.

2. Disconnect Taillight Wiring Connectors:

   • Disconnect the vehicle wiring harness from both taillight sockets.
   • Separate the connectors carefully without breaking the locking tabs.
   • Set both taillights aside.

3. Route Driver-Side Harness:

   • Begin on the driver’s side underneath the vehicle.
   • Route the harness containing the yellow wire up through the opening between the bumper and vehicle body to the driver’s side taillight pocket.

   Note: Use a fish wire between the taillight pocket and rear fascia to pull the harness through for ease of installation.

4. Connect T-One® Connector (Driver-Side):

   • Locate the connectors matching the T-One® Connector ends.
   • Insert the T-One® Connector end with the yellow wire into the 4-pin connector.
   • Insert the T-One® Connector end with the brown wire into the 2-pin connector.
   • Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.

5. Mount the Black Box:

   • Underneath the vehicle, find a suitable mounting point behind the rear bumper fascia on the driver’s side.
   • Mount the T-One® Connector black box using the provided double-sided tape.

   Caution: Ensure the epoxy side of the module points toward the ground to prevent water buildup.

6. Ground the White Wire:

   • Locate a grounding point near the black box (e.g., an existing ground stud).
   • Clean the grounding area and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
   • Avoid drilling into the vehicle floor or bed.

   Warning: Avoid hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tanks, or other areas that may damage the wire.

7. Route Passenger-Side Harness:

   • Route the harness with the green wire up through the opening between the bumper and vehicle body to the passenger’s side taillight pocket.

   Note: Use a fish wire for easier routing, similar to the driver’s side.

8. Connect T-One® Connector (Passenger-Side):

   • Insert the T-One® Connector end with the green wire into the 4-pin connector.
   • Insert the vehicle wire end with the 2-pin connector into the corresponding taillight socket.
   • Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.

9. Connect Power Wire:

   • Disconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
   • Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder (provided).
   • Attach the ring terminal to the Positive (+) battery cable and secure it.
   • Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the provided yellow butt connector.

10. Route Power Wire:

    • Route the black 12-gauge wire rearward along the vehicle’s frame rail.
    • Avoid hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tanks, or areas that could pinch or damage the wire.

    Warning: Follow all precautions to avoid wire damage during routing.

11. Connect Power Wire to Black Box:

    • Attach the black 12-gauge wire to the black power wire on the T-One® Connector’s black box using the yellow butt connector.

12. Reconnect Battery and Test:

    • Reconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
    • Install the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
    • Test the installation with a test light or trailer.
    • Reset the vehicle electrical system by removing the key from the ignition temporarily.

13. Reassemble Components:

    • Reinstall trim panels, threshold, storage covers, floor coverings, and other components removed during installation.
    • Secure all loose wires and mount the Trailer Tow Harness in an accessible location using a bracket or electrical box.
