Installation Instructions for Hi-Rise 18K Fifth Wheel Conversion Hitch

- King Pin Weight: 4,500 lbs
- Use only an SAE 2-inch kingpin with this hitch.
- Never place any part of your body under the trailer or between the truck and trailer.
- Ensure trailer landing gear rests on firm ground and trailer wheels are blocked before hitching or unhitching.
- Maximum hitch capacity:

- Verify a minimum of 6 inches clearance between the truck bed rails and trailer underside.
- Do not use this hitch on short-bed trucks under 6 feet in length.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Guidelines for Matching Tow Vehicle and Trailer
- Ensure your vehicle has a rated towing capacity equal to or greater than the gross trailer weight (GTW).
- Install this hitch on long-bed trucks (8 ft) for best performance and turning clearance.
- For short-bed trucks (6-8 ft), use a minimum 13” extended pin box to gain additional turning clearance.
Step 2: Plastic Bed Liner Adjustment (if applicable)
- If a plastic bed liner is installed, cut or remove the liner where the hitch components will rest.
- Cut areas must align with mounting hardware and bed corrugations (see Fig. 8).
Step 3: Assemble the Hitch Components
- Attach the center section to the base assembly using 5/8” bolts and lock washers.
- Torque the 5/8” bolts to 170 ft-lbs.
Step 4: Install Plastic Strips
- Attach the plastic strips to the bottom of the hitch legs using 5/16” x 1.5” screws, flat washers, and nylon lock nuts.
- Align the strips to sit between the truck bed corrugations (see Fig. 11B).
Step 5: Insert the Post Assembly
- Place the post assembly into the gooseneck hitch and secure it with the 5/8” knurl bolt, conical washers, and nylon lock nuts.
- Loosely tighten the hardware for alignment.
Step 6: Secure the Hitch
- Slide the post assembly into the hitch and align it.
- Close the handle/locking pin mechanism on the gooseneck hitch.
- Torque the 5/8” nuts to 120 ft-lbs.
Step 7: Install the Skid Plate Assembly
- Lubricate the skid plate and center section with lithium grease.
- Place the skid plate assembly onto the center section, keeping hands clear of pinch points.
- Insert the pull pins and secure them with retaining clips (see Fig. 17).
Step 8: Attach the Handle Assembly
- Attach the handle assembly to the skid plate using 3/8” carriage bolts, lock washers, and hex nuts.
- Slide the handle grip over the handle tube.

Maintenance:
- Lubricate the skid plate and jaws regularly with chassis grease.
- Inspect the hitch and all fasteners before each trip.
- Retorque the 5/8” bolts to 170 ft-lbs after initial use and every 1,000 miles.
- Grease the jaw fitting through the grease zerk every 6 months.
Towing Information:
- Use a lube plate no larger than 3/16” thick (Cequent part #83001).
- Ensure the trailer king pin height allows the trailer to remain level during towing.
- Maintain at least 6 inches clearance between the truck bed rails and the underside of the trailer.
Warranty:
- 5-Year Limited Warranty for defects in material and workmanship under normal use.
- Warranty excludes damage from misuse, neglect, improper installation, or unauthorized modifications.
