Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Remove Plastic Underbody Panels:
- Use a flat head screwdriver to remove (14) push-type plastic rivets and (3) threaded panel fasteners from the underbody panels. Remove the (3) panels and set them aside.
2. Lower Fascia Removal (2016-2018 Models):
- Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove (2) screws from the bottom inner edge of the fascia.
- Use plastic trim tools to remove (5) clips holding the wiring harness to the fascia tabs.
- Starting at the edges, carefully pull the fascia away from the vehicle.
3. Remove Bumper Beam:
- Use a 12mm socket to remove (8) M8 bolts (4 per side) securing the bumper beam to the end panel.
4. Modify Bumper Beam:
- Use an adjustable wrench to bend the tabs on the back of the bumper beam upward by approximately 15 degrees.
5. Install Hitch:
- Raise the hitch and bumper beam into position, aligning the holes with the weldnuts in the end panel. Sandwich the hitch between the bumper beam and end panel.
6. Reinstall Fasteners:
- Loosely reinstall the existing (8) M8 bolts into the weldnuts in the end panel. Tighten all fasteners to 20 lb-ft (27 N·m) using a torque wrench.
7. Reinstall Lower Fascia and Wiring Clips:
- Align the tabs in the lower fascia with the upper fascia and reinstall it.
- Reattach the (5) wiring clips to the fascia tabs and reinstall the (2) screws at the edges.
8. Trim Center Underbody Panel:
- Use a tape measure, marker, and utility knife to measure, mark, and trim the center underbody panel as per the provided diagram.
9. Reinstall Underbody Panels:
- Reinstall the (3) underbody panels using the (14) push-type rivets and the (3) threaded panel fasteners.
Safety Notes:
- Regularly inspect all fasteners to ensure the hitch and ball mount are securely attached.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water or exhaust entry.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Always wear safety glasses and follow all safety precautions when working under the vehicle.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
