Installation Instructions for 2021-Current Kia Seltos

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Bottom Appearance Panel:
- Use a flat head screwdriver and 10 mm socket to remove 1 flange nut and 2 rivets from the bottom appearance panel on the passenger side.
- Set the panel aside for later trimming and reinstallation.

Lower Exhaust Muffler:
- Using exhaust removal pliers, detach the rubber hangers at 2 locations.
- Support the exhaust to prevent damage while removing the hangers.

Install Hitch:
- Remove 1 rubber plug from the chassis on each side to access the holes.
- Use pull wires to feed carriage bolts and spacers through the access holes and into the frame.
- Leave pull wires attached while raising the hitch into position.
- Feed pull wires through the hitch bracket slot, remove the wires, and loosely install conical washers (teeth side toward the hitch) and hex nuts.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Using a torque wrench, tighten all 7/16"-14 fasteners to 50 ft-lbs (68 N*m).

Trim Bottom Appearance Panel:
- Use a utility knife to trim approximately 1 inch from the rearward edge of the panel, as shown in Figure 2 of the manual.

Reinstall Components:
- Reinstall the rubber plugs, exhaust muffler, and trimmed appearance panel.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Installation Instructions for T-One® T-Connector for Kia Seltos

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Open the Hatch:
- Remove the plastic threshold cover, side panels, and cargo trays to access the vehicle’s wiring inside the rear cargo area.

Remove the Taillights:
- On both the driver’s and passenger’s sides, remove the taillight assemblies.
-
Prepare the Driver-Side Grommet:
- On the driver’s side, slit the grommet to allow for the T-Connector wiring.
- Route the T-Connector with yellow and brown wires through the slit in the grommet into the driver’s side taillight pocket.

Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Insert the T-One® Connector end with the yellow wire between the driver-side wiring connectors.
- Ensure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs engaged.

Mount the T-One® Black Box:
- Mount the black box using the provided double-sided tape.
- Secure the remaining T-One® Connector harness with cable ties to prevent damage or rattling.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the black box, such as an existing ground stud.
- If necessary, drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
- Clean the grounding area of dirt and rustproofing before securing.
Caution: Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury.

Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Route the connector containing the green wire behind the panels and along the threshold to the passenger side.
- Pass the green wire through a slit in the passenger-side grommet into the taillight pocket.

Connect the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Insert the T-One® Connector end with the green wire between the passenger-side wiring connectors.
- Ensure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs engaged.

Route the Power Wire:
- Locate the black 12-gauge power wire from the T-One® Connector black box.
- Route the black wire along the vehicle’s frame to the engine compartment, avoiding areas that could pinch, cut, or damage the wire.

Connect to the Vehicle Battery:
- Disconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder (provided).
- Attach the ring terminal to the Positive (+) battery cable and secure it.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black wire using the provided yellow butt connector.
Warning: Follow all warnings printed on the tow vehicle’s battery.

Reconnect the Battery and Test:
- Reconnect the Negative (-) battery cable and insert the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
- Test the installation using a test light or trailer. Reset the vehicle’s electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Replace the plastic trim panels, threshold, storage covers, floor covering, and other items removed during installation.
- Ensure no wires are pinched or damaged.

Store the 4-Flat Connector:
- Route the 4-flat connector through the driver’s side trim panel into the storage compartment on the threshold and store it when not in use.
