Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter

Wiring Access Location:

• Rear taillight assemblies and cargo area.

Tools Required:

• 8mm, 10mm, and 13mm socket and ratchet or wrench.
• Test probe.
• Trim panel remover.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Highlander:

   • Open the rear tailgate.
   • Remove the access panel on the driver’s side to locate the rear of the taillight (Fig. d). Repeat on the passenger side.
   • Remove the threshold, trunk floor panels, and trays (Fig. e). Set all items aside carefully to avoid damage.

   Azera:

   • Open the trunk and remove the threshold panel.
   • Partially remove the felt trunk liner on the driver’s side to expose the taillight wiring (Fig. j).

2. Locate the vehicle’s taillight wiring harness on both sides.

   • The harness will have a connection point matching the ends of the T-Connector.
   • Separate the connectors carefully to avoid damaging the locking tabs.
   • Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt (Fig. f & j).

3. Insert the T-Connector with the yellow wire between the vehicle wiring connectors on the driver’s side.

   • Ensure the connectors are fully inserted and locked in place (Fig. g & j).

4. Route the T-Connector end with the green wire to the passenger’s side.

   • Repeat step 3 on the passenger’s side.

5. Locate the existing ground stud.

   • Loosen the bolt, place the screw eyelet on the stud, and retighten the bolt (Fig. h & j).

6. Mount the T-Connector black box using the provided double-sided tape.

   • Secure the remaining T-Connector harness with the provided cable ties.
   • Ensure wires are not pinched or cut to prevent damage or rattling (Fig. i & j).

7. Reposition and reattach all removed panels, trays, and the threshold.

8. Test the installation with a test light or trailer.

   • Specifications:
     • Max. stop/turn light: 1 per side (2.1 amps).
     • Max. tail lights: (4.2 amps).

Hardware List:

6. Mount the T-Connector Black Box:

   • Use the provided double-sided tape to mount the black box in a flat, secure location.
   • Secure the remaining T-Connector harness with the provided cable ties.
   • Ensure wires are routed away from sharp edges or moving parts to prevent damage or rattling.

7. Reinstall Panels:

   • Reposition and reattach all panels, trays, and the threshold removed during the installation.

8. Test the Installation:

   • Use a test light or trailer to confirm proper functionality of the following:
     • Left turn signal.
     • Right turn signal.
     • Brake lights.
     • Running lights.

Specifications:

• Max. Stop/Turn Light: 1 per side (2.1 amps).
• Max. Tail Lights: (4.2 amps).
