Installation Instructions for Toyota Avalon

Specifications:

• Max Gross Trailer Weight: 2,000 lb. (908 kg)
• Max Tongue Weight: 200 lb. (90.8 kg)
• Note: Do not exceed the towing vehicle manufacturer’s rating.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Lower Mufflers:

   • Remove the rubber isolators: two on the driver’s side and three on the passenger side.
   • Support the exhaust as required.

2. Remove Muffler Support Brackets:

   • Detach the two rearmost muffler support brackets (three bolts per bracket). Return the brackets to the vehicle owner.

3. Remove Heat Shields:

   • Remove the heat shields by unscrewing three screws per shield.

4. Remove Weld Nut Covers:

   • Peel off the tape covering the weld nuts on each side of the frame rails.

5. Install Frame Bracket Supports:

   • Loosely attach the frame bracket supports to the outboard side of the frame rails using the provided fasteners.

6. Position Hitch:

   • Raise the hitch into position and loosely install the M10 bolts to hold the hitch in place. This step eases the installation of the M8 frame bolts.

7. Tighten Fasteners:

   • Torque all M10 fasteners to 42 Lb.-Ft. (57 N*M).
   • Torque all M8 fasteners to 27 Lb.-Ft. (37 N*M).

8. Reinstall Heat Shields and Mufflers:

   • Replace the heat shields.
   • Use the muffler support rods on the hitch to reattach the rubber isolators and raise the mufflers back into position.

• (8) M8 x 1.25 x 30mm CL10.9 Bolts
• (8) 5/16” Flat Washers
• (8) 5/16” Lock Washers
• (4) M10 x 1.50 x 35mm CL8.8 Bolts
• (4) 3/8” Flat Washers
• (4) 7/16” Lock Washers
• (4) M10 x 1.50 CL10 Nuts

Safety Notes:

• Regularly inspect all fasteners and the hitch ball to ensure proper tightening.
• If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
• Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
• Always observe safety precautions and wear eye protection when working under the vehicle.
• Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

• Important: The drawbar must be used in the rise position only.
