Installation Instructions for 2018-Current Audi Q5/SQ5

- Ratchet Torque Wrench
- Safety Glasses
- Sockets: 10mm, 16mm, 19mm
- 6” Socket Extension
- Panel Removal Tool
- Plastic Trim Tools
- T25 Torx Bit
- Silicone Sealant
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Install Receiver Housing:
- Unlock the blue handle using the provided key and remove the housing from the receiver by pressing the blue handle and rotating it clockwise until it clicks.
- Attach the weather covers to the housing.
- Secure the housing to the hitch using M12 bolt, flat washer, and prevailing torque nut.
- Tighten the fasteners to 92 Lb.-Ft. (125 N*M).

Place Warning Labels:
- Store the warning card in the glove compartment.
- Attach warning labels to the top of the receiver and door jamb.

Remove Rear Fascia:
- Use a T25 Torx bit to remove 4 screws from the rear bottom fascia.
- Remove 1 screw and 1 plastic flange nut from each wheel well liner using a T25 Torx bit and 10mm socket.
- Remove the lower wheel well trim by unclipping the tabs and pulling outward.
- Remove screws behind the wheel well trim and vertically from the upper area behind the liner.
- Open the liftgate, remove 2 plastic screws near the trunk weather seal, and detach the scuff plate using a panel removal tool.
- Remove fascia studs from beneath the scuff plate using a 10mm socket, and repeat the steps for the other side.

Remove Bumper Beam:
- Using a 16mm socket, remove 8 M10 factory bolts securing the bumper beam.
- Return the bumper beam to the vehicle owner.

Install Hitch:
- Apply silicone sealant around the openings on the end panels of the vehicle.
- Raise the hitch into position and loosely install 8 existing M10 bolts.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Torque all M10 fasteners to 53 Lb.-Ft. (72 N*M).

Reinstall Components:
- Reinstall the fascia, wiring harness, panels, rubber plugs, scuff plate, wheel well trim, and fasteners removed in previous steps.

Installation Instructions for Modulite® HD Protector Vehicle Wiring

- Drill with 3/32” Drill Bit

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Tow Vehicle Inputs - Determination:
- Disconnect and isolate the vehicle's negative battery terminal.
- Warning: Read and follow all warnings and instructions on the tow vehicle's battery.
- Splice the tow harness input wires to the vehicle as determined.
- Caution: Use appropriate gauge wire splices. Blue taps are for 16-18 gauge wires only.
Harness Installation:
- Determine the mounting location of the module and secure it using the double-sided tape provided.
- Warning: Mount the module with the epoxy side pointed towards the ground to prevent water buildup.
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the module, such as an existing ground stud, or drill a 3/32” hole to secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
- Caution: Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage or personal injury.
- Route the power wire to the vehicle’s positive battery terminal. Use the provided fuse holder, butt connector, and ring terminal to connect to the battery.
- Do not insert the 15 amp fuse yet.
- Caution: Ensure the module is connected to a constant power source and avoid routing the wire near hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tanks, or pinch points.
Completion:
- Secure the harness with cable ties provided to prevent damage or rattling.
- Reconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable.
- Insert the 15 amp fuse into the fuse holder and close the cap.
- Test the installation using a test light or trailer. Check each function independently and in combination.
