Installation Instructions for Electronic Trailer Brake Control (2 & 4 Brake Systems)

Tools Required:

Screwdriver
Drill with 1/8" drill bit
Wire Cutter/Stripper
Wire Crimping Tool
Circuit Tester (Probe Type)

Brake Control Unit
Mounting Bracket
Mounting Screws (#6 x 3/8") (Qty: 4)
Wire Tap Connector

Mounting Instructions:

Select Mounting Location:
- Ensure the location is solid and within easy reach of the driver.
- Confirm that nothing is behind the panel before drilling.
Drill Holes for the Mounting Bracket:
- Use the mounting bracket slots as a template to mark holes.
- Drill two (2) holes using a 1/8" drill bit.
Secure the Bracket:
- Attach the bracket to the mounting location with self-tapping screws provided.
Install the Brake Control Unit:
- Slide the Brake Control into the bracket.
- Secure the Brake Control with the remaining screws.

Wiring Instructions:

Black Wire (Battery +):
- Connect to the positive terminal of the battery via a 20A auto-reset circuit breaker.
White Wire (Ground -):
- Connect to a clean, bare metal ground on the vehicle chassis.
Red Wire (Stoplight Switch):
- Connect to the cold side of the stoplight switch (active only when the brake pedal is pressed).
Blue Wire (Trailer Brake Wire):
- Connect to the trailer brake wire at the 7-way trailer connector.

Brake Control Setup:

Adjust Output Control:
- Turn the Output Control (top-left knob) to the lowest setting (full right).
Initial Test:
- Drive forward slowly and apply the brakes.
- Gradually adjust the Output Control to the left until firm trailer braking is felt.
Adjust Sync Control:
- Turn the Sync Control (left knob) forward for more aggressive braking.
- Test drive and fine-tune until braking is smooth and consistent.

Controls Overview:

Output Control:
- Adjusts the maximum power delivered to the trailer brakes.
Sync Control:
- Adjusts the time delay for applying trailer brakes after the pedal is pressed.
Manual Control:
- Applies the trailer brakes independently without engaging the vehicle brakes.
Output Indicator:
- A red indicator light on the control unit confirms operation:
  - Glows dimly at low braking force.
  - Increases in brightness with stronger braking force.

Troubleshooting Guide:

No trailer brakes	Faulty power or wiring	Verify black and white wire connections.
Brakes too weak	Low Output Control setting	Increase Output Control.
Brakes lock up	Output Control too high	Reduce Output Control.
